Why I'm leaving sustainability

Why I’m leaving sustainability
(The truth is, I’m not really)

On March 21st, I’ll be starting my new position as Project Associate for EdPolicyWorks at the University of Virginia.

EdPolicyWorks is a joint center between the Curry School of Education and the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy. The center researches education policy and workforce competitiveness.

I will be providing project management support for their research, with the majority of my time spent on a large multi-institution project. It is a great opportunity to leverage my project management skills and experience with collaborative projects. I am encouraged and inspired by the research I will be supporting, and I’m very excited to join their team.

While the position is not in environmental sustainability, it still fits with my core beliefs: helping us, as a people and a planet, thrive.

A wise person once told me “If you apply your core values you will contribute to "sustainability" through any work. It is more an ethos than actual effort. That is something people forget or don't internalize and get bogged down in details.”

You can still find me enjoying the outdoors, photographing the scenery, and reading the latest developments. And I’m sure I won’t soon shed the “can I recycle this?” questions from family and friends.

I hope to maintain the connections I’ve made over the past 6 years and be an ever-present cheerleader.

Onward and upward!
